Crew of the Siem Plato vaccinated at Quonset’s Port of Davisville

This past Tuesday marked another successful vaccination operation for Siem Car Carriers seafarers. 15 seafarers sailing aboard the Siem Plato were vaccinated against COVID-19 on the morning of July 6^th at Quonset Business Park’s Port of Davisville. These crew members were given the Johnson & Johnson vaccine by staff of the Rhode Island Department of Health.

Due to tight Customs and Border Patrol regulation, these seafarers are unable to disembark the vessel upon arrival to any port. The vaccine clinic was a collaboration between Siem Car Carriers, Rhode Island Department of Health’s COVID-19 Vaccine, Distribution and Operations team, North Atlantic Distribution and the Quonset Development Corporation.

“We thank the Rhode Island Department of Health for vaccinating employees of Siem Car Carriers,” said Steven J. King, P.E., Managing Director of the Quonset Development Corporation. “Siem Car Carriers imports thousands of automobiles annually at the Port of Davisville and we are happy their crew is now safely protected against COVID-19.”

The Siem Plato marks the third vessel in SCC’s fleet to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Crewmembers of the Siem Aristotle and Siem Cicero were vaccinated last month in the Port of Jacksonville. The Siem Confucius crew will receive the same treatment on their next port call to Davisville, which is set for next week.
