To ensure the security measures declared in a participant's CTPAT security profile are carried out and remain effective, CBP created the CTPAT revalidation process in accordance with SAFE Port Act guidelines, enacted into Federal Law in October 2006. This process allows CBP and representatives of Siem Car Carriers AS to jointly review their CTPAT security profile and assess its overall effectiveness via onsite visits and procedural reviews.
CTPAT Revalidation is conducted every 4 years to keep the CTPAT member validated in the program. SCC’s initial validation took place at Pyeongtaek International Ro-Ro Terminal (PIRT) in South Korea in 2014, followed by revalidation at Siem Car Carriers AS California office in Benicia in 2019. Due to the effects of COVID-19, in-person validations were paused for some time, but CTPAT has since resumed normal revalidation procedures.
The CBP revalidation team met with representatives of Siem Car Carriers in May of 2024 in the Port of Emden. Siem calls the port of Emden as part of our Transatlantic service with the Siem Cicero, Siem Confucius, and Siem Aristotle. Security procedures onboard the vessels were reviewed for effectiveness, and it was determined that Siem Car Carriers’ processes were in-line with CTPAT requirements once again.
As a vessel owner and operator, our CTPAT approval relies heavily on our diligent implementation of the ISPS Code on board our ships. The high degree of professionalism and due diligence shown from our Captains and crew ensures these standards of security are being followed at all times.
